Abogado por la Universidad de Colima; Maestro en Derecho de la Propiedad Intelectual por la Universidad The John Marshall Law School de Chicago, Illinois, USA; y Doctor en Derecho por la Universidad de Guadalajara. Ha sido miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI), Nivel I; profesor invitado de la academia de la Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual (OMPI) con sede en Ginebra, Suiza; y Consultor del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), con sede en Washington, D.C.

Ha sido becario de la Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (Agencia Alemana de Intercambio Académico) para realizar estancia de investigación en el Max Planck Institute für Geistiges Eigentum, Wettbewerbs und Steuerrecht (Instituto Max Planck para la Propiedad Intelectual, Derecho de la Competencia y Tributario), con sede en Munich, Alemania; de la Fundación Banco Santander para realizar estancia de investigación Post-Doctoral en la Universidad de Alicante, España, de la cual es profesor del Magister Lvcentinvs desde 2012; y del programa Leaders in Innovation Fellowship de la Royal Academy of Engineers del Reino Unido. Actualmente es árbitro certificado en materia de derechos de autor autorizado por el INDAUTOR. Ha sido miembro del Consejo Directivo de la Red OTT México, A.C. (Red OTT®) y de la Red TransferenciAP de la Alianza del Pacífico; y Presidente de la Asociación de la Industria Electrónica y de las Tecnologías de Información del Estado de Colima, A.C. (AIETIC). Es fundador y miembro del Consejo de Administración de diversas empresas, con más de 15 años brindado capacitación y consultoría en el ámbito privado.

En la Universidad de Colima, actualmente es director general de vinculación y profesor-investigador de carrera. Ha sido coordinador académico de la Facultad de Derecho; director del Programa de Propiedad Intelectual y director del Instituto Universitario de Investigaciones Jurídicas. Autor del libro “derecho de la propiedad intelectual” publicado en 2010 por Editorial Oxford y del Libro Derecho y Transferencia de Tecnología publicado en 2017 por Tirant Lo Blanch, así como co-autor de más de 10 libros, así como diversas ponencias y artículos publicados en revistas nacionales y extranjeras.

At the University of Colima, is acting general director of strategic partnerships and career lecturerresearcher. Has served as Law School academic coordinator; director at the Intellectual Property Program and director of the Institute for Legal Research. Author of "intellectual property law" published in 2010 by Oxford Publishing and “Law and technology transfer” published in 2017 by Tirant Lo Blanch; co-author of more than 10 other books; as well of several papers published both nationally and internationally.
